Justification and impact if rule is not changed |
| Quality donkeys are needed to continue to produce the type of mules we all want to ride. Aside from breeding, donkeys are growing in popularity and are playing a larger role in NASMA shows as a whole. By not requiring shows to offer at least a minimum of donkey classes, NASMA is discouraging participants and limiting the opportunities for donkeys to be exhibited. Donkeys should not be allowed to be excluded at a NASMA approved show. NASMA members owning donkeys pay the same membership and entry fees as those with mules. In addition, it is not justified to offer only training level donkey classes. If we want to promote the versatility of donkeys, we need to encourage participants to continue in the training of their donkeys and advance out of the training level program into open donkey classes. Donkey training level classes should be offered in addition to open classes, not as a substitute. |
